Robert “Rob” Ellsworth Johnson, 87, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2023.
A longtime resident of Rapid City, SD and Lake Havasu City (AZ), Rob was the second oldest of four children, born to Fred and Bertha Johnson in New Underwood, SD on August 5, 1936.
While still a young boy the family moved to Rapid City, SD, where he graduated from Central High School before joining the Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer; after which he returned home to work with his dad at Johnson Machine, before ending his career with the FAA.
A long time member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Rob was an avid traveler, pilot and lover of dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Freddie, and many beloved pets; and is survived by his sister, brother and an extended family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
