Jo Ann (Anderson, Yates) Kennedy at the age of eighty-four, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed peacefully with family by her side on December 2nd, 2023. Jo Ann (Anderson, Yates) Kennedy was born October 30, 1939, to George Franklin Anderson and Hazel (Losser) Anderson at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Jo Ann graduated from Bingham High School in 1957 and was a former student at Utah State University at Logan before she started her family with Harold Yates. Mom worked many years in Las Vegas with different roles in the casino industry, mostly at the Union Plaza.
Mom was always putting others before herself, even until her last days. She loved playing solitaire in her past time. She also found joy during the holidays making homemade jam and grandmas fudge for her kids. Mom’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she always made a point to make it special for those around her. Jo Ann was crowned Miss Galena in 1957 for Galena Days celebration in Bingham, Utah. She participated in Girls State and was highly active in dance. Her fondest memories were hanging out at Copperton Park in Bingham Canyon, Utah. There will be no services at her request. Her wishes were to be cremated and ashes spread at a future date with family. She was preceded in death by her father George Franklin Anderson (1908-1958), her mother Hazel (Losser) Anderson (1908-1992) and only sister Doris (Anderson, Ball) Lillard (1931-1995) and is survived by her husband Samuel Kennedy, Children Bradley Yates (Kimberly), Lisa Yates, Lori Yates (Kim) Kimberly Davidson (Brett) and Steven Kennedy (Alyson), eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
