After a brief illness, we lost our beloved Balwant Kaur, 74, wife, mother, sister, and aunt, in Henderson,
NV, on November 17, 2021. Born on November 2, 1947, in, Sabeto, Nadi Fiji, Balwant was one of eleven
children to the late Channan Singh and Gyan Kaur. She proudly called the Fiji Islands home until she
moved to Sacramento, California, in March 2001.
A woman whose smile could light up the room, Balwant will be remembered for her selfless and kind
heart, her enduring strength, words of wisdom, and love for cooking. She loved all children, especially her
many nieces and nephews. Her proudest achievement was being a mother to her only son, Amar Jeet;
although she enjoyed playing an active role in raising her younger siblings.
Balwant is survived by her son, Amar Jeet (Chad) of Las Vegas; and siblings, Bachan Kaur; Beyant
Singh; Sarwan Singh; Parkash Singh; Kamal Kaur; Surendar Kaur; Ajmer Kaur; Amrit Kaur; and Sundip
Kaur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chandar Singh; father, Channan Singh; mother, Gyan Kaur;
and sister, Basant Kaur.

Friends and family will be received from 11 AM – 1 PM at McDermott’s Funeral & Cremation Service,
2121 Western Avenue Suite A3 in Las Vegas on Wednesday, November 24, with a private cremation
service immediately following.  Guests are invited to Sukhmani Sahib Ka Path and Langar at Gurdwara
Gur Nanak Prakash Las Vegas, located at 7640 Haven St, Las Vegas, NV 89123, from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
Guests are required to follow current pandemic guidelines, wear masks and practice social distancing.

  3. Very sorry to hear of the passing away of Balwant Kor. We were neighbours and grew up together. She was our senior with my sister when we walked to and from school. She we be missed by a lot of us specially her beautiful smile. Rest In Peace dear niece.
